Johann Heinrich von Schachtmeyer

Johann Heinrich von Schachtmeyer (born October 6, 1782 in Rospentek , † July 14, 1847 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Johann Christian von Schachtmeyer († 1805) and his wife Katharina, née Guderian. His father was a judicial commissioner and a gentleman on Rospentek.

Military career

Schachtmeyer was initially a volunteer in the fusilier battalion "von Eicke" from 1796 and was hired on November 1, 1797 as a portepeefähnrich in the fusilier battalion "von Yorck" of the Prussian army . On October 24, 1801 he came to the infantry regiment "von Brünneck" and was promoted there on May 5, 1804 to second lieutenant. With this regiment , Schachtmeyer took part in the battles at Soldau , Königsberg , Wusen, Wackern, Biszun and the Battle of Prussian Eylau during the Fourth Coalition War in 1806/07 . For his achievements he was awarded the Order Pour le Mérite on February 21, 1807 . After the peace treaty , his regiment formed anew on January 1, 1808 and was named 1st East Prussian Grenadier Regiment No. 1 "Crown Prince". In the following years he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on June 26, 1811 and to staff captain on January 17, 1813 . With the formation of the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot , Schachtmeyer was transferred here on June 19, 1813 as captain and company commander. He led his company during the Wars of Liberation in 1813/14 in the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig and in front of Paris .

On March 31, 1815, he was promoted to major with simultaneous appointment as commander of the fusilier battalion. Schachtmeyer came to Stolp on March 30, 1826, where he took over the 2nd Battalion of the 21st Landwehr Regiment. In this position, promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1830 , Schachtmeyer was commissioned two years later to lead the 9th Infantry Regiment (called Colbergisches) in Stettin. After he was appointed commander of this regiment on December 24, 1832, Schachtmeyer was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1833 . On September 10, 1834, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class, for his services in the troop leadership . Under awarding of the character as a major general , he finally took on 4 March 1837 an annual pension of 1750 thalers his departure.

Schachtmeyer spent his twilight years in Stettin, where he also died.

Schachtmeyer married Amalie Philippine von Orlich (1797-1835), a sister of the writer Leopold von Orlich , on February 11, 1816 in Berlin . The following children were born from the marriage:
