John P. Lomenzo

John P. Lomenzo senior (born August 12, 1915 - June 7, 2004 in Rochester , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Nothing is known about the youth of John P. Lomenzo senior. He graduated from Fordham University School of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1939. He later served as a judge on Monroe County Court when he ran for the office of New York State Comptroller in 1962 . He suffered a defeat in the election to the incumbent Arthur Levitt senior . On August 22, 1963, New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller appointed him Secretary of State of New York - a post he held until his resignation in December 1973. Lomenzo was President of the National Association of Secretaries of State from 1970 to 1971 . In 1964 he participated as a substitute ( Alternate Delegate ) at the Republican National Convention in San Francisco ( California ). Since 1975 he was a director of the Conair Corporation. He was also a partner in the law firm Field, Lomenzo & Turret.

His son John P. Lomenzo Jr. has been Town Court Justice in Penfield (New York) since 1995 .
