Edward Lazansky

Edward Lazansky (born December 9, 1872 in New York City , † September 12, 1955 in Southampton , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ). He was Secretary of State of New York from 1911 to 1913 .

Career

Edward Lazansky was born about seven years after the end of the Civil War in the then still separate city of Brooklyn . Nothing is known about his youth. In 1895 he graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts . He then went to Columbia Law School , where he graduated in 1897. He was then admitted to the bar. From 1906 to 1908 he was Assistant Corporation Counsel in Brooklyn. He served on the New York City Board of Education from 1908 to 1909 . In 1910 he was elected Secretary of State of New York. He took part in 1912 and 1916 as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions . From 1917 to 1926 he was a judge on the New York Supreme Court and from 1926 to 1943 on the Appellate Division . He was a founder and chairman of the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital's Board of Trustees .
