John J. Lyons
John J. Lyons (* around 1881, † February 27, 1945 in New York City ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ). He was Secretary of State of New York from 1921 to 1923 .
Career
Nothing is known about the personal life of John J. Lyons. He was the Republican district leader in Harlem . In 1916 he took part as a substitute ( Alternate Delegate ) and in 1920 as a delegate to the Republican National Conventions , both of which took place in Chicago ( Illinois ). In the fall of 1917 he ran for the office of sheriff . Lyons was elected Secretary of State of New York in 1920. In 1925 he ran for Mayor of New York City. He died in the United States Veterans Hospital in the Bronx in 1945 at the age of 64 . His final years were overshadowed by the Second World War .
