Michael F. Walsh

Michael F. Walsh (born February 24, 1894 in New York City , † July 22, 1956 ibid) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ). He was Secretary of State of New York from 1939 to 1943 .

Career

Michael F. Walsh, son of Patrick Walsh, was born in 1894 in the then still separate city of Brooklyn and grew up there. His father emigrated Ballydine House near Cashel in Ireland's County Tipperary in the United States one. He was the first to serve as the Chief of the City of New York Fire Department and Fire Commissioner at the same time . Nothing is known about Michael F. Walsh's youth. He served during the First World War in the US Navy . He then went to the Law School of Columbia University , where he Jura studied. Walsh received his license to practice law. From 1938 to 1939 he was the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York before he was appointed Secretary of State of New York. He was then a judge on the New York Supreme Court from 1943 to 1954 . For a considerable time he was a part-time lecturer at Columbia Law School. He died at his home at 1193 East Nineteenth Street , Brooklyn, and was then buried in Holy Cross Cemetery .
