Randy A. Daniels (* 1950 ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). He was Secretary of State of New York from 2001 to 2006 .

Career

Nothing is known about the youth of Randy A. Daniels. He received a BA in Government Studies and Journalism from Southern Illinois University . From 1970 to 1972 he worked as a reporter for WVON Radio in Chicago ( Illinois ). Daniels then worked from 1972 to 1977 as a correspondent for CBS News in Chicago, from 1977 to 1980 as a foreign correspondent for CBS News in Nairobi ( Kenya ) from 1980 to 1982 as National Correspondent for CBS News headquarters in New York City . Daniels was Director of Communications in the New York City Council President's Office from 1986 to 1988 and Press Secretary to Bahamas Prime Minister Lynden O. Pindling from 1988 to 1992 . From 1995 to 1999 he served under Governor George Pataki as Senior Vice President and Deputy Commissioner of Economic Revitalization of the Empire State Development Corporation. He was from December 1999 to April 2001 Senior Vice President at Canyon Johnson Urban Fund, LLP, a real estate equity fund headquartered in Beverly Hills ( California ). He was also a member of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Task Force. From April 2001 to September 2006, he was Secretary of State of New York. During this time he also held several other offices. In this regard, he chaired the New York State Real Estate Board and the New York State 911 Board for Wireless Emergency Calls. In April 2007 he joined Gilford Securities, Inc. to work.
