Joseph Karl Johann de Finance (also: Ludwig Joseph * October 18, 1784 in Rawa in Poland; † August 3, 1851 in Bonn ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .
Life
origin
His parents were the country gentleman Johann Karl Engelbert de Finance from Pont-à-Mousson and his wife Marianne Therese, née von Meunier. He had two brothers: Engelbrecht Johann (1781–1821) died as captain of the gendarmerie, Johann Friedrich (born March 31, 1788; † January 12, 1838) died as a major a. D.
Military career
Finance visited the cadet houses in Kalisch and Berlin . On April 11, 1800 he was employed as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Natzmer" of the Prussian army and advanced to the position of second lieutenant in the III. Battalion. In the Fourth Coalition War , Finance fought in the defense of Graudenz .
After the Peace of Tilsit he was employed in the 2nd West Prussian Infantry Regiment on January 1, 1808 , and his patent was backdated to May 26, 1803. On June 27, 1813, he was promoted to prime lieutenant and on September 28, 1813 to staff captain . During the Wars of Liberation Finance fought at Großgörschen and earned the Iron Cross, 2nd class , at Bautzen . Then fought in the Battle of Kulm . In the 1815 campaign , Finance received the Iron Cross First Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class for his behavior in the Battle of Ligny . Then he fought at Waterloo . He was also in the battles of Danigkow, Alsleben, Colditz, Königswartha, Compiegne, Sevres and Iffy. Before taking Paris , he was appointed captain and company commander on April 10, 1815 .
After the war, Finance joined the 2nd Rhenish Landwehr Infantry Regiment as a major on January 24, 1817, and on March 26, 1820, he became the commander of the Landwehr battalion in the 40th Infantry Regiment . In 1825 he was awarded the service cross . From there he was on March 30, 1829 as commander of the Landwehr battalion in the 35th Infantry Regiment in Düsseldorf . In this position promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1833 , he joined the 13th Infantry Regiment as battalion commander a year later . From there, on March 30, 1836, he was commissioned as a colonel to lead the 35th Infantry Regiment and on October 17, 1836, he was appointed regiment commander. This was followed by a position as commander of the 15th Landwehr Brigade in Cologne on March 25, 1841, and Finance was aggregated to the 35th Infantry Regiment on May 19, 1814 . On April 7, 1842 he became major general and on September 12, 1842 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. Finance received on 23 March 1847 his farewell to the character as a lieutenant general and a pension of 2250 thalers.
Finance died unmarried on August 3, 1851 in Bonn and was buried there on August 6.
