Juína , officially Portuguese Município de Juína , is a small Brazilian town in the west of the state of Mato Grosso . It is 442 m above sea level and had 39,255 inhabitants (2010). The population was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 40,997 inhabitants, called the Juinenses ( juinenses ) and living in a large municipal area of around 26,190 km². Mathematically, this results in a population density of 1.5 inhabitants per km². Juína is 720 km from the capital Cuiabá . Its location makes it a regional center for the surrounding municipalities of Brasnorte , Castanheira , Juruena , Cotriguaçu , Colniza , Aripuanã and Rondolândia .
The city administers an area slightly larger than Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania or Rwanda.
history
It evolved since 1978 from the settlement project of Companhia de Desenvolvimento do Estado de Mato Grosso (CODEMAT - Society for the Development of the State of Mato Grosso), which had advanced so far in 1982 in the area around Juína that the location of the status of Munizips awarded has been.
