Career

Juraj Kolník began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the MHC Nitra , for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 1997/98 season . The winger then played for L'Océanic de Rimouski in the Canadian junior league QMJHL for two years . With his team he first won the Coupe du Président , the QMJHL championship, and then the Memorial Cup , the championship of the Canadian Hockey League in the 1999/2000 season . He played a major role in both successes. First he scored 133 points in a total of 61 QMJHL games and then he was elected to the All-Star Team of the Memorial Cup.

From 2000 to 2002 Kolník was under contract with the New York Islanders , who had selected him in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round as a total of 101st player. In addition to his assignments in the National Hockey League , he ran in this period for the Lowell Lock Monsters , Springfield Falcons and Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the American Hockey League , with Bridgeport in the 2001/02 season only in the playoff final for the Calder Cup at the Chicago Wolves failed. From 2002 to 2007 the left shooter went for the Florida Panthers in the NHL on the hunt for goals, where he was used in his first three seasons in parallel in their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage , for which he played exclusively during the lockout in the 2004/05 season . From 2005 to 2007 he was only used in the NHL for the Panthers.

From 2007 to 2010 Kolník played in the Swiss National League A for Genève-Servette HC . There he was one of the strongest players in the entire league and was appointed to the All-Star Team in 2008 and 2009. Furthermore, he was the best assists in the league in these two years and in 2009 also top scorer. At the Spengler Cup 2009 he was also appointed to the All-Star Team. Due to his strong performance in Switzerland, the national player was signed for the 2010/11 season by OHK Dynamo from the Continental Hockey League . For the team, however, he only played eight games in which he scored one goal and four assists. In November 2011 his contract with OHK Dynamo was terminated by mutual agreement, after which he moved to the ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League A at the end of January 2012 .

In the 2012/13 season he stormed for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the National League A. After the contract with the Lakers was not renewed at the end of the season, Kolník moved to the National League B to the SCL Tigers . With the Tigers he was only used irregularly due to injuries and was sometimes not used as a surplus foreigner.
