Karen Pittman (born May 12, 1986 in Mississippi ) is an American actress . She became famous for her roles in the series Marvel's Luke Cage and The Morning Show .

life and career

Karen Pittman was born in the state of Mississippi and grew up in the city of Nashville , Tennessee . Her parents were both scientists. She has three sisters and one brother. After graduating from high school, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Opera and Singing from Northwestern University and then a Masters of Fine Arts from New York University . She took on her first role in front of the camera in 2009 with a guest appearance on the series 30 Rock . Further appearances followed in Kings , Medium - Nothing Remains Hidden and White Collar . In 2010 she played a small role in the drama Last Night . In 2012 she portrayed a reporter in the film The Bourne Legacy .

In 2013 she was in a small role in the musical film Can a Song Save Your Life? to see. After appearances in Good Wife and House of Cards , she appeared on stage from 2014 to 2015 for the play Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar at the Lyceum Theater , together with Josh Radnor and Gretchen Mol , in the role of judge Jory . For this she received the Theater World Award in 2015. From 2014 to 2016 she played a small role as Lisa in the series The Americans . Her other television appearances include The Blacklist , Person of Interest , Blindspot , Elementary , Madam Secretary and Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce .

From 2016 to 2018, Pittman was Inspector Priscilla Ridley on the cast of the Netflix series Marvel's Luke Cage . In 2019 she took on a supporting role as Mia Jordan in the drama series The Morning Show . In 2020 she appeared in a small role in the final season of the series Homeland and will also play a recurring role in the third season of the series Yellowstone .

Pittman lives in New York City and is a mother of one son and one daughter. Before she turned to acting, she worked as a singer and in the field of investment. When she applied for the acting program at NYU, she was already pregnant with her first child.
