Karl Baur (sculptor)
Karl Baur (born December 21, 1881 in Munich ; † August 15, 1968 there ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Karl Baur studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Wilhelm von Rümann , Adolf von Hildebrand and Erwin Kurz . He was involved in the reconstruction of the Aeginetes in the Munich Glyptothek for the archaeologist Adolf Furtwängler (1853-1907) . Most of Baur's works, which were oriented towards the Renaissance, can be classified as Christian art, but some war memorials ( Immelststätten and Gundremmingen ) also originate from his hand.
His works were exhibited regularly at the Munich art exhibition in the Glaspalast in Munich and in 1957 in a solo exhibition by the Society for Christian Art in Munich.
His grave is in the Winthirfriedhof in Munich-Neuhausen.
