Karl Friedrich Chlebus

Karl Friedrich Chlebus (born October 11, 1790 in Oels , † October 28, 1862 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commander of the 14th division .

Life

His parents were the deacon and provost of Oels Karl Wilhelm Chlebus (1756-1820) and his wife Christiane Dorothea, née Scholtz.

Military career

After visiting the school in his hometown enrolled to Chlebus on May 2, 1809, to the University of Leipzig to theology to study. At the beginning of the Wars of Liberation , he enlisted in the army , joined the 12th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment as a volunteer hunter on March 2, 1813, and was promoted to second lieutenant in early August 1813 . With the regiment he took part in the blockade of Glogau and fought in the skirmishes that followed. On August 23, 1814, Chlebus was promoted to prime lieutenant and on July 1, 1814, transferred to the 9th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On June 14, 1815, he was transferred as a captain to the 14th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. From there he was ordered to serve in the Breslau Landwehr Inspection on May 18, 1816 and was aggregated to the 17th Infantry Regiment . Leaving his position at the Landwehr Inspection, Chlebus was aggregated to the 8th Infantry Regiment on December 6, 1817, the 34th and December 1, 1818 . On March 30, 1821, he was transferred to the Adjutantur and on June 5, 1821, Chlebus was Adjutant at the General Command of III. Army Corps . On March 30, 1822 he was transferred to the 24th Landwehr Regiment as a major and on October 17, 1829 as a battalion commander. From March 6, 1831, he was employed as an adjutant to General Gneisenau at the High Command in Posen . With the dissolution of the High Command, Chlebus returned to the 24th Landwehr Regiment on November 9, 1831 as commander of the 1st Battalion. He came on March 30, 1838 as a battalion commander in the 24th Infantry Regiment , at the same time he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. He was then assigned to lead the regiment, appointed Chlebus on March 30, 1839, as regimental commander, and on March 30, 1840, promoted him to colonel . In this capacity he was awarded the Order of St. Anne II on September 18, 1843 . On March 30, 1844, he was transferred to the 14th Infantry Brigade as commander and on April 8, 1844, he was aggregated to the 24th Infantry Regiment. Chlebus advanced to major general on March 31, 1846 and received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves , on September 28, 1847 . On November 20, 1849 he was appointed commander of the 14th division in Düsseldorf and on April 19, 1851 was promoted to lieutenant general. Chlebus participated in the April 10, 1852 his parting with inn , died on October 28, 1862 in Berlin, and three days later on the garrison cemetery buried with his wife.

family

Chlebus married on November 30, 1816 in Probstheida Johanna Christiane Charlotte Hasenritter (1792–1862), the daughter of the Saxon general advisor Johann Adolf Hasenritter. The couple had several children:
