Karl Krikler

Karl Krikler (born May 28, 1915 in Weiden am See , † December 16, 1986 in Eisenstadt ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and elementary school director. Krikler was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1956 to 1977 and its president from 1966 to 1977.

Life

Krikler was born as the son of the winemaker Heinrich Krikler from Weiden and attended the secondary school in Neusiedl am See after primary school in Weiden . He then switched to the private teacher training institute in Feldkirch (Vorarlberg), where he graduated from high school in 1935. Then he signed up as a one-year volunteer for the Austrian Armed Forces and in 1936 took up a position as a primary school teacher in Burgenland. From 1939 he served in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War , and in 1943 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets in Stalingrad, from which he did not return until 1947. Krikler returned to school in 1947 and was most recently active as a primary school director in Bocksdorf . He was appointed high school councilor in 1965 and was married.

politics

Krikler represented the SPÖ between June 11, 1956 and October 27, 1977 in the Burgenland Landtag, and from June 28, 1966, he was President of the Landtag. After leaving the state parliament, Krikler took over the chairmanship of the Austrian Pensioners' Association in 1977 .
