Wolfgang Dax

Wolfgang Dax (born October 18, 1939 in Hatzendorf ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and lawyer. Dax was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1977 to 1996 and its president from 1991.

Dax was born as the son of the district captain of Oberwart, Julius Dax. After elementary school and a class at Jennersdorf secondary school, he attended the Fürstenfeld high school, which he graduated with the Matura in 1957. He then studied law at the University of Graz and graduated in 1961 with the academic degree of Dr.jur. from. After completing his legal practice at the Jennersdorf District Court between 1961 and 1962, he joined the Burgenland Provincial Government on May 2, 1962, initially in the commercial department. In 1963 he did his military service and was then from 1963 district captain of the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district and from 1964 district captain deputy in the Güssing district . Dax was the district captain's deputy from Güssing until 1977 and was then professionally active as a member of the state parliament. After the end of his political career, Dax became a legal employee at the law firm Dax & Partner in 1996.

His grandson Christian Dax (SPÖ) also became a politician.

politics

In June 1976 Dax became a member of the ÖVP city party leadership in Güssing and in October 1976 took over the role of executive city party chairman. At the same time he also became a member of the Güssing district party leadership and on October 27, 1977 sworn in as a member of the state parliament. In addition, he worked from 1979 to 1993 as district party chairman of the ÖVP-Güssing, rose in 1986 to the executive club chairman of the ÖVP Burgenland and was elected president of the Burgenland state parliament on July 18, 1991. On June 27, 1996, he left the state parliament.

In addition to his political functions, Dax was also active as President of the Burgenland Social Aid Organization from 1989 to 1996 , and he also served as President of the Burgenland Red Cross . From 1992 he also took over the office of President of the Burgenland Legal Society.
