Ernst Hoffenreich

Ernst Hoffenreich (born April 26, 1890 in Vienna , † December 6, 1958 in Mattersburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and lawyer. Hoffenreich represented the SPÖ several times in the Burgenland state parliament . He was a regional councilor and president of the state parliament.

education and profession

Hoffenreich, son of the Vienna-born bank director Josef Hoffenreich, attended elementary school and the Schottengymnasium in Vienna. In 1909 he passed the Matura and studied law at the University of Vienna and the University of Paris from 1909 to 1914 . He did his military service from 1914 to 1918 and was employed by the Vienna State Chancellery from 1918 to 1919 . He was then a magistrate of the city of Wiener Neustadt from 1920 to 1931 , but was on leave from 1922 to 1925. In 1931 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. From 1939 Hoffenreich worked as a lawyer in Bad Sauerbrunn and from 1951 in Mattersburg. During National Socialism, he was a member of the Nazi legal guardian association and district air raid leader as a lawyer .

politics

From September 1919 Hoffenreich was a representative of the Lower Austrian provincial government in the administrative office for the connection of German-West Hungary and from 1921 to 1922 a member of the administrative office for Burgenland . He represented the Socialist Party from July 15, 1922 to February 12, 1934 in the Burgenland Landtag. He was also 1st President of the State Parliament from May 20, 1927 to December 5, 1930 and then 2nd President of the State Parliament until February 12, 1934. Between July 19, 1922 and April 29, 1925, he was also a member of the regional governments of Rausnitz , Walheim and Rauhofer . Hoffenreich also worked as mayor in Sauerbrunn from 1927 to 1934. Within the party, he was a member of the state executive committee of the Socialist Party from 1922 to 1934. In the course of the civil war in 1934, Hoffenreich was taken into political custody and lost all of his political offices.

After the Second World War, Hoffenreich was a member of the provisional state committee and party representative of the SPÖ in the provisional state committee. From 1946 to 1950 he held the office of vice-president of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce and was deputy chief curator of the state mortgage company until 1949. Most recently he was chairman of the administrative commission of the community savings bank of the community of Sauerbrunn. He represented the SPÖ from December 13, 1945 to March 19, 1953 in the Burgenland Landtag and held the office of 2nd Landtag President.

Private

Hoffenreich was first married to Karin Bolin, Karl Seitz's niece, from October 10, 1920 . On December 27, 1944, he married Barbara Arthofer.
