Karl Sigismund Wilhelm Gabriel von Liebenroth (born October 10, 1772 in Köslin , † December 30, 1857 in Breslau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Karl Wilhelm Fürchtegott von Liebenroth (1735–1785) and his wife Charlotte Sophie, née Leupold (1752–1802). His brother Christian Rudolf von Liebenroth († 1794) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the fusilier battalion of the same name.

Military career

From October 1, 1780, Liebenroth attended the Kadettenanstalt in Kulm and switched to the Berlin Cadet House on September 13, 1786 . On April 5, 1790, he came to the engineering academy in Potsdam . Liebenroth took part in the First Coalition War and became a lieutenant in the engineering corps on March 14, 1794 . In mid-June 1795 he was transferred to the Neisse fortress . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought at the siege of Glogau . On November 30, 1808 he was appointed engineer officer from the square in Neisse . On February 13, 1810 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and on May 25 , 1810, he was transferred to the 3rd Division of the General War Department as an assistant. In this capacity, Liebenroth was promoted to staff captain on November 26, 1810 .

On July 5, 1811 he was then assessor in the 3rd Division of the General War Department. From there he was transferred to the war school in Breslau on August 4, 1812 as a teacher of fortification . From there he came to General Scharnhorst in the General Staff on March 6, 1813 and was promoted to captain shortly thereafter on March 11, 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation , Liebenroth fought in the battles near Bautzen , on the Katzbach , Arcis-sur-Aube , La-Fere-Champonoise and in the battles near Löwenberg and Goldberg. For Katzbach he received the Iron Cross 2nd class. On April 23, 1814 Liebenroth became a major and again a member of the 3rd Division of the General War Department, on January 5, 1817 he also became a member of the Military Study Commission. On January 18, 1819, he received a gift of 300 thalers. Then Liebenroth was transferred to the 1st Engineer Brigade on January 23, 1819. On March 30, 1824 he rose to lieutenant colonel and on March 30, 1829 he became a colonel . On May 12, 1832 he was appointed inspector of the 2nd engineer inspection. On September 30, 1835 he received the Russian Order of St. Vladimir and on March 30, 1836 he was appointed major general. On January 18, 1838, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On his departure on March 18, 1841, Liebenroth was given the character of lieutenant general and he received the statutory pension . On February 22, 1843 he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class. He died in Breslau on December 30, 1857.

family

Liebenroth married on October 28, 1807 in Cosel Charlotte Ernestine von Buchwitz (1790-1809), a daughter of Major Karl Friedrich von Buchwitz from the Gotternitz family. After her untimely death he married her sister Helene Wilhelmine von Buchwitz (1792-1859) on April 13, 1812 in Breslau. The couple had several children:
