Karl Bernhard Wilhelm von Klinckowstroem (born April 28, 1783 in Ludwigsburg , † September 13, 1865 in Drehnow, district of Crossen (Oder) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

His parents were Friedrich Sebastian von Klinckowström (1735-1821) and his wife Anna Louise Wilhelmine, born von Rosenberg (1751-1823). The father was a Swedish lieutenant colonel , a royal Swedish court judge in Greifswald and a lord of Ludwigsburg. His older brother Friedrich August (1778-1835) was an officer in the "von Tresckow" infantry regiment , but took his leave in 1802 because he stuttered a lot. He became a painter and founded an educational institution in Vienna. His sister Henriette Eleonore (1792-1847) worked as a writer .

Life

Klinckowstroem enrolled on January 11, 1794 at the University of Greifswald . He was then supposed to visit the Berlin Cadet House, but was refused because the institution did not accept foreigners. He joined the Prussian Army and on April 18, 1801 was employed as a standard junker in the cuirassier regiment "von Wagenfeld" . He became a surplus cornet on October 4, 1803 before being recruited on November 15, 1803. On October 23, 1805 Klinckowstroem advanced to secondary lieutenant and took part in the fighting at Preussisch Eylau , Liebstadt and Braunsberg during the Fourth Coalition War. He received a special award for Braunsberg, but was also badly wounded, so that his left arm remained paralyzed for life.

After the Peace of Tilsit , the remnants of his regiments formed the Silesian Cuirassier Regiment and Klinckowstroem came on December 26, 1808 as an adjutant to General von Massenbach . On March 27, 1809, he became Premier Lieutenant in the Adjutantur with a salary of 30 thalers and three rations. By June 1810, Klinckowstroem was promoted to staff assistant master and came on March 21, 1811 as an adjutant to the East Prussian Cavalry Brigade. At the beginning of April 1811 he was transferred to the same position in the West Prussian Cavalry Brigade, where Klinckowstroem was promoted to Rittmeister on May 5, 1812 .

During the Wars of Liberation , he fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Nollendorf , Leipzig and in the battles near Bernburg, Rochlitz, Colditz, Königswartha, Reichenbach, Brunzlau, Haynau , Gießhübel, Fère-Champenoise , Meaux, Claye , Wavre , Namur , Versailles, Brienne , Paris , Ligny and Waterloo . In Leipzig he acquired the Order of Saint Anna II Class, in Königswartha the Iron Cross II Class, in Kulm the Order of Saint Vladimir IV Class and in Paris the Iron Cross I Class. On August 13, 1813 he was posted to the Russian General Oldecop and on November 28, 1813 he was promoted to major . On March 12, 1814, Klinckowstroem was posted to the Neumärk Dragoon Regiment and transferred to the Brandenburg Hussar Regiment on March 29, 1815 . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in early October 1815.

On February 1, 1817 he was appointed commander of the 3rd Hussar Regiment and in this capacity was awarded the French Legion of Honor on October 9, 1817 . On March 30, 1823 he became a colonel with a patent from April 11, 1823 and on January 18, 1824 he was awarded the Order of St. John . On March 30, 1832 he came as a commander to the 14th Cavalry Brigade and was aggregated to the 3rd Hussar Regiment . On the occasion of the festival of the order, Klinckowstroem was awarded the Red Eagle Order III in January 1834 . Awarded class with a ribbon. On March 30, 1834, he became a major general promoted before August 12, 1837 Board for disposition was made. Klinckowstroem married on December 9, 1811 in Hirschfelde (Sagan district) Marie Charlotte von Knobelsdorff (1803–1823). The son Thure Ernst Karl (* 1823) emerged from the marriage. After the death of his first wife, he married on June 6, 1830 in Groß-Zossen with Borna Johanna Angelika Mathilde von Einsiedel (1800–1840) from the Groß-Zossen house. With her, Klinckowstroem had the daughter Marie Johanne (Jenny) Angelika (* 1836), who married a von Stosch in Posen in 1859.
