The Knyaz Vladimir is a cruise ship operated by the Israeli shipping company Mano Maritime .

history

After the launch on October 16, 1970, the test drives were carried out from April 22, 1971. On May 16, 1971, the ship was finally delivered to P&O and used as a ferry on the Southampton - Lisbon - Tangier route under the name Eagle . From 21 November 1974 to March 1975 was the Eagle in Falmouth launched ; on March 22, 1975 it began operating on the Southampton - Lisbon - Tangier - Algeciras route .

On December 19, 1975, the ship was sold to Nouvelle Compagnie de Paquebots, who renamed it Azur . From March 21, 1971, it was used on the Toulon - Portoferraio - Capri route. From April 3, 1976, it was on the Toulon - Palermo - Valletta - Patras - Syracuse - Capri route.

From November 1981 to April 1982 the Azur was converted into a cruise ship and finally used for cruises from Toulon. In 1983 the ship was used in the evacuation of the PLO from Beirut . From 1985 the ship was chartered to the Canadian shipping company Linett, which used it for Mediterranean cruises in summer and Caribbean cruises in winter . In July 1986 the ship was launched in Lisbon .

From January 26, 1987, Chandris Cruises chartered the ship and renamed it The Azur . It was rebuilt at Salamis in Piraeus and registered in Panama. From April 11, 1987, it was used for cruises from Venice . The charter of Chandris Cruises ended in December 1993. From May 1994 Festival Cruises chartered the ship and used it for cruises from Venice and Genoa . In February 2004, The Azur was arrested in Gibraltar . In August 2004, Golden Cruises (Mano Maritime) bought the ship and renamed it Royal Iris . Until 2005 the ship was rebuilt in Perama . In September 2016 the ship was renamed Roy Star and then Knyaz Vladimir . In 2017 Mano Maritime sold the ship to Rosmorport for 11 million euros and handed it over in April 2017.

Incidents

On April 15, 1975, the ship was able to save the crew of the burning ship Angelique Taf .

On June 21, 2005, a fire broke out on board the ship in Samos , but it was quickly extinguished by the crew.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by two diesel engines from the manufacturer Pielstick-Atlantique (type: 12PC3) with a total output of 15014  kW . The motors act on two controllable pitch propellers .

A total of six diesel generators with a total output of 5165 kW are available for the power supply.
