tasks
Taxes
The responsible EU commissioner has the task of limiting the tax disadvantages for the economy across the EU and removing tax obstacles between the member states. In addition, he should continue to promote the "green" tax policy favored by the EU. The prevention of tax evasion and the necessary negotiation of agreements with EU members and non-member states also belong to the area of responsibility.
Customs union
The task is to prevent competition-distorting or illegal customs policies of the member states and to better network the customs administration in the EU and to eliminate the burden of customs duties on companies within the EU.
Fight against fraud
It is primarily a matter of checking the correct use of EU funds by the respective institutions and member states. The EU commissioner is also the top head of the EU anti-fraud agency OLAF .
Audit
Another area of responsibility is auditing the EU accounts and relieving the EU budget , as this is done to avoid unnecessary expenditure. This area also includes the European statistical authority Eurostat, which among other things evaluates the household data of the member states.
