Niwy ( Russian Нивы , German Kompehnen ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the rural municipality of Selskoje posselenije Divnoje in the Baltiysk district .
Geographical location
Niwy is located 26 kilometers northwest of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) on the municipal road 27K-255 from Doroschnoje (Kapsershöfen) on the regional road 27A-016 (ex A193 ) via Zwetnoje (Kallen) and Tichoretschenskoje (Linkau) to Kruglowo (Poland) on the regional road 27A -013 (ex A192 ). Until 1945 the place called Kompehnen was a train station on the Fischhausen – Marienhof railway line (Russian: Primorsk - Pereslawskoje ) of the Fischhausen district railway .
history
The place, called Kompehnen until 1946 , was founded in 1310 and was a Vorwerk von Kallen (today Russian: Zwetnoje) until 1945 and has been closely connected to this municipality in its history. Kallen was from 1874 to 1945 in the same District incorporated, which until 1939 for the district Fischhausen from 1939 to 1945 County Samland in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Between 1786 and 1945 the Kompehnen estate was owned by the von der Goltz family , and Gert Freiherr von der Goltz was the owner from 1926 to 1945 .
In 1945 Kompehnen came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia . In 1950 the place received the Russian name "Niwy" and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Logwinski selski Sowet in Primorsk Raion . In the same year the place came to the Zwetnowski selski sowet and then in 1959 to the Powarowski selski sowet . Presumably in 1994 Niwy was assigned to the Baltiysk district and since 2008 belongs to the rural municipality of Selskoje posselenije Divnoje in the Baltiysk district .

The almost exclusively Protestant population of Kompehnens was incorporated into the parish of the parish church in Thierenberg (Russian: Dunajewka, no longer existing) before 1945 and thus belonged to the Fischhausen parish (today Russian: Primorsk) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Niwy is in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
