Konstantinos "Kostas" Vasileiadis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος «Κώστας» Βασιλειάδης , alternatively Vasiliadis ; born March 15, 1984 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek basketball player who is 2.00 m tall and is in the positions of shooting guard or small forwards is used.

Career

Vasileiadis was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in Kilkis . At the age of eleven, he joined the GAS Kilkis , a local basketball club where his sister Areti already played in the corresponding women's team. In 1999 he moved to the youth department of PAOK Saloniki . In the course of the 2000/01 season he was appointed to PAOK's first team and made his debut for them in the then A1 Ethniki , the top division in Greek basketball, on December 16, 2000 in the game against the Makedonikos which PAOK with 92:71 points could win. Later, Vasileiadis came to a total of ten games in his first professional season. The then sixteen-year-old Forward also made his debut in the Euroleague, the top European division for club teams, and was used in this competition in two other games. For the following season, Vasileiadis did not get a lot of playing time per game, but had a permanent place in the rotation of the squad and thus made a total of 26 league appearances. From 2002/03 he was part of the team's starting five. In a total of 28 games, he got 270 points. Recently, other clubs were interested in a commitment from Vasileiadi, but he decided to stay with PAOK. He was honored for this with the appointment as captain of the team. Vasileiadis was not only the youngest captain of the league, but also the youngest captain in the club history of PAOK.

Under the direction of coach Branislav Prelević , Vasileiadis led his team to the 2003/04 season at the end of the main round in fifth place. The forward played its best season to date. In 26 games he got 407 points. This made him the third most successful thrower on his team. In the subsequent playoffs, PAOK faced local rivals Iraklis. At Iraklis there was also a relatively young player who was one of his team's guarantors of success. The then 24-year-old Dimitris Diamantidis , who was to play his last season at Iraklis, had 385 points in 26 games and was the second most successful thrower of his team. In the first meeting on April 10, 2004, Iraklis defeated PAOK with 70:66 points. While Diamantidis made his contribution to the victory with 17 points, Vasileiadis only got three points. He sank only one of nine planned threesomes. His other performances in this game did not match the picture he had given in the preliminary round. In the second game in the series it was Diamantidis who could only convert one of nine three-pointers. In total, he got nine points. Vasileiadis got ten points. PAOK won this home game with 60:53 points and thus equalized the series. In the last and decisive third game on April 17, 2004 Vasileiadis came to 23 points and with eight rebounds he was also close to a double double . On the other hand, Diamantidis shone with 16 points and seven assists. Ultimately, PAOK had lost this game with 85:90 points and was eliminated from the current competition. For PAOK that means sixth place for that season. Iraklis was third in the further course.

Vasileiadis also finished sixth in the domestic league with PAOK in the following two seasons after being eliminated again in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. For the 2004/05 season the "black and white" failed at Panionios Athens for Nikos Ikonomou and Giorgos Sigalas among others . In 2005/06 it was GS Marousi with the players Kostas Kaimakoglou , Alexis Kyritsis and Christoforos Stefanidis who prevented PAOKs from advancing. Vasileiadis moved to the still running Spanish league and came under at Unicaja Málaga , which was in the semi-finals of the playoffs. Ultimately, Málaga defeated its semi-final opponent with 3-2 victories and moved into the final of the championship with Vasileiadis, where the team faced TAU Cerámica . The favorite, TAU Cerámica with its star players Luis Scola and Pablo Prigioni , could be defeated 3-0 games. For Vasileiadis it was the first title in his professional career. Inspired by this success, Málaga offered him a one-year contract and the Greek remained in the ACB league for the time being . Although the Andalusians were unable to defend their title, they made a lasting impression in the Euroleague . In the quarter-finals, Málaga defeated FC Barcelona for the first time in the club's history in the Final Four of the Euroleague . There the Unicaja Málaga met the CSKA Moscow around Theodoros Papaloukas . In the other semi-final, TAU Ceramica and Panathinaikos Athens faced each other. The Muscovites prevented entry into the final with a 62:50 point victory and so they met in the game for third place on TAU Ceramica, who were eliminated by the Athens . As in the final of last year's Spanish championship, Unicaja Málaga prevailed again. Panathinaikos won the Euroleague with Dimitris Diamantidis, who was elected MVP of the Final Four. Theodoros Papaloukas was named MVP of the season.

After that season, Vasileiadis moved back to Greece and joined Olympiacos . In Piraeus he met Loukas Mavrokefalidis with whom he had already played a few seasons earlier in Thessaloniki. In the first league game, the previous season's runner-up hosted Olympiacos, Vasileiadi's former club PAOK. With two converted three-point throws and one more from the infield, Vasileiadis got eight points with 13:29 minutes of use. Olympiakos won against PAOK with 76:66 points. At home, PAOK then returned the favor for this defeat and defeated Olympiakos with 81:80 points at the start of the second half of the season. Vasileiadis was not used in this game. Vasileidais played his best game in Olympiacos in the Euroleague . In the 113: 80 points win against Olimpija Ljubljana , the Guard contributed 21 points in 19:38 minutes and was next to Georgios Printezis , also with 21 points in 29:26 minutes, the most successful thrower of his team. Although Vasileiadis had signed a three-year contract in Piraeus and with 193 points in 21 of a possible 26 league games in the main round also provided a solid performance for Olympiacos, he moved back to Thessaloniki to his home club PAOK for the following season.
