Kosliw (Ukrainian Козлів ; Russian Козлов / Koslow , Polish Kozłów ) is an urban-type settlement in Kosowa district of Ternopil Oblast in western Ukraine .
The place is located about 25 kilometers west of the oblast capital Ternopil and 28 kilometers northeast of the district capital Kosowa , until 2015 the settlement council of the same name included Kosliw as well as the village of Dmuchiwzi , on July 24, 2015 the settlement became the center of the newly founded settlement community Kosliw (Козлівськададалимагададад Kosliwska selyschtschna hromada ), this also includes the 4 villages Dmuchiwzi (Дмухівці), Pokropywna (Покропивна), Slobidka (Слобідка) and Tauriw (Таурів).
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1467, was initially in Poland and came in 1772 as Koslow to the then Austrian crown land of Galicia .
After the end of World War I, the area became part of the Polish Republic (in the Tarnopol Voivodeship , Powiat Brzeżany - from 1934 Powiat Tarnopol ), Gmina Kozłów I , was occupied by the Soviet Union in World War II from 1939 to 1941, and then by Germany until 1944 , and here incorporated into the district of Galicia .
In January 1940, the place was designated the capital of the district of Kosliw , which existed until its dissolution in 1962.
After the end of the war the place was added to the Soviet Union , there the village came to the Ukrainian SSR and has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991. In 1961 the place now called Koslow / Kosliw was given the status of an urban-type settlement .
