Kōnosu ( Japanese 鴻 巣 市 , - shi ) is a city in the center of the Japanese prefecture of Saitama .
geography
Kōnosu is north of Saitama and Kitamoto and south of Kumagaya .
The Arakawa flows through the city from north to south. Kōnosu lies on the Ōmiya plateau .
history
Kōnosu was a post office ( 宿 場 町 Shukuba-machi ) of the Nakasendō during the Edo period .
Kōnosu received on September 30, 1954 with the incorporation of the village Jōkō ( 常 光 村 , -mura ) in the district of Kitaadachi the town charter .
