Kreith is a fraction ( village ) and cadastral municipality of the municipality of Mutters  in the Innsbruck-Land district  in Tyrol with 186 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

The scattered settlement Kreith is about 3 km south of Mutters at 991  m above sea level. A. above the Wipptal at the entrance to the Stubai Valley . The Kreith fraction also includes the Brandegg weekend house settlement , the hamlet of Holzerhöfe, the Kohlstatt settlement, the Kreither Alm and the Stockerhof inn. The Rotte Auserkreith, however, belongs to the Raitis faction and the Mutters cadastral community.

The cadastral municipality of Kreith has an area of ​​6.59 km² and comprises the southern part of the municipality of Mutters. It corresponds to the municipality of Kreith, which was independent until 1974.

history

In 1188, six princely and three Schwaigh farms were mentioned in Kreith . The farms belonged to the Stubai court , to the north of which ran the border to the Sonnenburg regional court . In 1848 Kreith became an independent political municipality. On January 1, 1974, the Kreith community was merged with the Mutters community to form the new Mutters community.

In 1803/04 the first chapel was built in Kreith. In 1924, today's branch church of the Heart of Jesus was built according to plans by the Innsbruck architect Max Thaler.

traffic

Kreith can only be reached on the street from Mutters (L227, Mutterer Straße). The place has a train station on the Stubaitalbahn , which connects it to Innsbruck every half hour and Fulpmes every hour . The reception building from the time the railway was built is a listed building.
