Unterberg is a place in the Wipptal in Tyrol and belongs to the communities Schönberg in the Stubai Valley and Mutters in the Innsbruck-Land district .
geography
The place is located about seven kilometers south of Innsbruck city center , halfway between Mutters and Schönberg, which are each about three kilometers. The Rotte lies at around 690 m above sea level. A. Höhe directly at the confluence of the Ruetz from the Stubaital into the Sill , on the left the Sill and on both sides of the Ruetz. The latter is the municipality boundary between Mutters and Schönberg, which means that the place falls into two municipal areas .
The two districts are connected by the Stephansbrücke , over which the Brenner Strasse B 182 runs. In the village only the road branches off to Ruetzwerk , from then on the valley of the Ruetz is impassable gorge ( Ruetzschlucht ). The Stubai Valley can only be reached via Schönberg. On the other side of the Sill is the Unterberg – Stefansbrücke stop of the Brennerbahn ( ), which can be reached on foot via the Sillschlucht pipe bridge in the Sillschlucht .

traffic
Unterberg – Stefansbrücke stop
Since the summer timetable in 1880, secondary trains of the Brenner Railway have stopped at the “guard house opposite the Stefansbrücke”. As a condition for the introduction, the erection of a footbridge over the Sill was made. This was built by the "local innkeeper".
Bus transport
The first bus route Innsbruck – Schönberg via Unterberg was established in 1900. This was advertised in Dillinger's travel newspaper as a “worthwhile car ride, 1 hour” for excursions from Innsbruck.
