Career
Kyle Brodziak began his career as a hockey player with the Moose Jaw Warriors , for which he was active for a total of four years in the Western Hockey League from 2000 to 2004 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the seventh round as a total of 214th player by the Edmonton Oilers . In his final WHL year he was also elected to the league's all-star team. Before the 2004-05 season Brodziak was in the squad of the farm team of the Oilers, the Edmonton Road Runners , called for him the entire season in the American Hockey League played since the season in the National Hockey League finally because of the lockout was canceled .
While Brodziak played in the following two seasons mainly for the AHL farm teams of the Oilers, the Iowa Stars and the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , he was exclusively in the NHL team of the Oilers between 2007 and 2009. As part of the NHL Entry Draft 2009 he was transferred to the Minnesota Wild .
After six years in Minnesota, his contract was not renewed after the 2014/15 season, so he signed a new one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues , which was then extended for two more seasons. He then returned to the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent in July 2018 , where he signed a two-year contract. He did not meet this requirement, however, as a back injury forced him to end his active career in summer 2019. In February 2020, his current contract was handed over to the Detroit Red Wings as part of the transfer from Mike Green .
