Herbert Kupfer
Herbert Kupfer (born March 26, 1927 in Munich ; † December 30, 2013 ) was a German civil engineer and university professor .
Life
Kupfer studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1946 to 1949 . In 1949 he became a member of the Corps Germania Munich . With a dissertation on the calculation of prestressed concrete beams under load up to breakage with special consideration of the adhesive stresses he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. In 1955 by Hubert Rüsch . PhD . He then worked for the construction company Dyckerhoff & Widmann for twelve years , where he was responsible for the calculation and construction of major projects in building construction and bridge construction. In 1967 he took over the chair for building construction and timber construction at the Technical University of Munich, and in 1969 he was appointed full professor for solid construction. He was Vice President 1984–1988 and Acting President 1986/1987 of the Technical University of Munich. In his private life, he was world-famous for his finger wrestling skills .
