Albert Wolfgang Schmidt

Albert Wolfgang Schmidt (born May 15, 1891 in Nuremberg , † June 11, 1943 in Graefelfing ) was a German chemist and rector of the Technical University of Munich .

Schmidt completed his habilitation in 1930 in Breslau, joined the NSDAP in 1933 and was appointed full professor at the Technical University of Munich in 1934 . From 1934 to 1943 he headed the Institute for Technical Chemistry at the TH Munich. From 1935 to 1938 he was rector of the university. He was the successor to Anton Schwaiger , who was pushed out of office by the National Socialists in 1935 due to his too moderate course. Since 1937 Schmidt headed the fuel division in the Reich Research Council .
