Moritz Schröter (mechanical engineer, 1851)
Moritz Schröter (born February 25, 1851 , † March 12, 1925 ) was a German mechanical engineer and university professor .
Life
Moritz Schröter was the son of the mechanical engineer Moritz Schröter (1813–1867), professor in Stuttgart and Zurich . In 1879 he became associate professor for theoretical mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich . There he took over the test laboratory set up by his predecessor Carl von Linde and expanded it further. From 1897, systematic tests on the diesel engine were made there . In 1886 he became a full professor in Munich. From 1908 to 1911 he was rector of the Technical University of Munich. In 1920 he was awarded the Grashof Memorial Medal from the Association of German Engineers . In 1924 he retired, his successor was Wilhelm Nusselt .
Schröter and Ludwig Prandtl wrote the article Technical Thermodynamics in the Encyclopedia of Mathematical Sciences .
