Richard Schachner

Richard Schachner (born June 19, 1873 in Straubing ; † June 13, 1936 in Munich ) was a German architect , municipal construction clerk and university professor in Munich.

Life

During his studies in Munich, Schachner became a member of the Corps Cisaria . After working in Bamberg and Freising , from 1912 he was a construction officer in the Munich city council . In the following years he planned many public buildings. Hospital buildings were a focus of his work. Appointed to a chair at the Technical University of Munich , Schachner also served as rector of the university from 1931–1933 . His estate is looked after by the Architecture Museum of the Technical University of Munich . Richard Schachner was the father of the architect Benno Schachner , who married the mineralogist Doris Schachner ; both daughter is Melitta Schachner , professor at the Center for Molecular Neurobiology in Hamburg.
