Johann Ossanna

Johann Ossanna (maiden name Giovanni Francesco Vigilio Maria Ossanna ; born June 26, 1870 in Denno , South Tyrol , † November 8, 1952 in Munich ) was professor at the newly established chair for electrical machines at the then Technical University of Munich from 1901 to 1935 . After studying engineering at TH Graz , he worked at Siemens & Halske in Vienna in a design office and in 1900/1901 became an assistant in the electrical engineering institute at TH Vienna . In 1942 he was made a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

A special form of locus plot that he published in 1899 to describe some variables on a three-phase asynchronous motor , which is related to the “ Heyland Circle ” ( Alexander Heyland ), is still known today as the “ Ossanna Circle ” .
