Sportfive
Sportfive (2015 to 2020: Lagardère Sports ) is a Hamburg- based international sports rights marketer with a worldwide network of company locations and subsidiaries.
history
The company was created in 2001 from a merger of the sports rights marketers UFA Sports and Sport +, a subsidiary of the French Canal + Group, and the Groupe Jean-Claude Darmon. In 2003 the competitor ISPR was taken over. In 2004, the acquired private equity -Unternehmen Advent International , the sports rights agency before the company in November 2006 for an estimated EUR 865 million by the French media group Lagardere was bought.
In September 2015 the parent company Lagardère carried out a restructuring. The sports and entertainment agencies of the Lagardère Group now appeared under the joint brand Lagardère Sports and Entertainment . The new umbrella brand replaced the previous name Lagardère Unlimited as one of the four business areas of the Lagardère Group. As part of this reorganization, all sports marketing agencies within the division, including SPORTFIVE , World Sport Group , IEC in Sports , Sports Marketing and Management and Lagardère Unlimited Inc. , were brought together under the common brand Lagardère Sports . In future, all entertainment businesses will operate under the Lagardère Live Entertainment brand .
Since May 2020 the company has been called Sportfive again .
Business areas
The sports marketing group marketed sports rights from trading in international television rights to stadium advertising, shirt sponsorship, stadium development and hospitality measures. Sportfive also offers consulting services and regularly publishes comprehensive market media studies and current market research results.
Marketing
Sportfive was Match Hospitality's exclusive agent in continental Europe for the sale of the official hospitality program for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
The International Olympic Committee ( IOC ) entrusted Sportfive with the exclusive marketing of the TV and new media rights in Europe (with the exception of some core markets) for the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2016 Summer Olympics . There is a cooperation agreement with the German Ski Association for the races in the Alpine Ski World Cup as well as the ski jumping World Cup competitions on German soil - with the exception of the Four Hills Tournament . Lagardère Sports is also represented in the sports of handball , basketball , rugby , triathlon , tennis and motor sports .
In total, the group markets more than 30 football associations, 250 international clubs and ten leagues. In Germany, Sportfive subscribes for the overall marketing of six Bundesliga clubs ( Hannover 96 , Borussia Dortmund , Bayer 04 Leverkusen , FC Augsburg , 1. FC Nuremberg and Hertha BSC ), Karlsruher SC , Hamburger SV , Arminia Bielefeld , MSV Duisburg and Dynamo Dresden from the 2nd Bundesliga as well as from the third division clubs 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Preußen Münster . Clubs in other European football leagues have also decided to work with Lagardère Sports. In the French Ligue 1 these are u. a. Olympique Lyon , Paris Saint-Germain , AJ Auxerre and AS Monaco , in the Italian Serie A Atalanta Bergamo , Sampdoria Genoa and Juventus Turin .
In Germany, the marketer was involved in the naming rights for the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, the Commerzbank-Arena (Waldstadion) in Frankfurt, the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund and others.
