Lambert Hofer (costume designer, 1944)
Lambert Johann Hofer (* 20th October 1944 in Vienna , † on the night of February 12 to 13. February 2013 in / widths Filsendorf , Lower Austria ) was an active in the costume shop, Austrian entrepreneur and racing driver , who since the mid-1960s Years also worked as a costume designer for the film.
Life
Hofer comes from the Viennese costume rental dynasty Lambert Hofer, which has been active since 1862 . Called Lambert Hofer IV within the family, Hofer junior continued the company policy of Lambert Hofer II , which began shortly after the First World War , of supplying the Austrian film industry with costumes. In 1966 Hofer IV founded his own company and for the next dozen years supplied a number of Austrian, German and English-language films and television productions, most of which were shot in and near Vienna. In addition, he supplied an abundance of stage productions that were performed at the Raimund Theater and the Theater an der Wien .
Hofer junior also used his contacts to the world of celebrities and for many years lent out costumes not only to prominent visitors to the Vienna Opera Ball , but also to media stars such as Maximilian Schell , Thomas Gottschalk , Curd Jürgens and Richard Burton . His dissolute lifestyle finally led to the bankruptcy of his own company in 2005, which, however, could be continued by his wife Olga Hofer. Lambert Hofer junior then withdrew to the Lower Austrian province, where he froze to death on a cold winter night on the way home from the inn. His lifeless body was not found until three days later. According to a medical diagnosis , he should have suffered a stroke shortly before .
Lambert Hofer, who himself took part as a racing driver in the 1000 km races in Zeltweg in 1969 and 1970 , was friends with Niki Lauda . Also included Klaus Maria Brandauer and Bernhard Paul to his friends.
