With Lausnitzer edge mountains a is natural spatial sub-unit (394-D) of the High Fichtelgebirges (main unit 394) in the Bavarian counties Tirschenreuth and Wunsiedel designated. It consists mainly of the cabbage forest and its southeastern slope.

Systematics

The main unit of natural space Hohes Fichtelgebirge (394) was identified as a sub-unit of the main unit group Thuringian-Franconian low mountain range (39) in the work on the handbook of the natural spatial structure of Germany . However, since sheets 142 Plauen (south) and 154/155 Bayreuth were never published in the refined structure 1: 200,000 , there was no refinement of this structure until the 2010s.

In the meantime, the Bavarian State Office for the Environment has broken down all natural areas in Bavaria based on the main units, which may contain a further sub-level - i.e. up to the 5th level. Since there is no further refinement, the main units are not followed by any decimal places, but the code numbers of the sub-natural areas are given a letter after them. In the Lausnitzer Randbergen, the fourth of four sub-units, this was the letter D.

Location and limits

The unit 394-D contains mainly the Kohlwald with the Arzberger timber ( Kohlwald in the strict sense ; about 22.7 square kilometers) and to the southeast subsequent München Reuther forest together with clearings the eingemeindeten to Waldsassen places Münchenreuth and Pechtnersreuth (about 24, 5 km²) as well as the largely unwooded area around Konnersreuth (about 26.0 km²) that adjoins it to the south .

To the southwest, the natural area borders on the continuously wooded Reichsforst , which is included in the natural space unit 394-C Stone Forest , to the northwest on the Selb-Wunsiedeler plateau (395) or the Selb-Wunsiedeler Hügelland (395-A), to the northeast, in the Czech Republic , to the Eger basin and to the south-east to the Naab-Wondreb-Senke (396).

The Lausnitz stream, which flows into the Wondreb and gives it its name, is not a central body of water in the natural area, but its approximate boundary to the south. In the southeast it separates the Gulgberg ( 579  m ), whose northeastern continuations ( Gommelberg , Schachenreuth ) together with it are the eastern edge mountains of the natural area and the (Hohen) Fichtelgebirge as a whole to the Naab-Wondreb-Senke, from the Reichsforst. To the right (in this case to the west) of the Lausnitz, the hamlet of Rosenbühl (zu Konnersreuth) also belongs to the natural area, from the source south of the Arzberg hamlet of Preisdorf , the southwest border follows, to the west of it to the north, the tree line of the Reichsforst, and finally to the west consequences. From the Feisnitz reservoir , the pre-lock (in the east) is integrated exactly into the natural area, but the main lock is separated from the Selb-Wunsiedeler hill country.

To the north of the dam and to the east of Arzberg and Schirnding , the natural boundary leading to the northeast, which is also the main unit boundary here, follows almost exactly the western tree line of the Arzberg forest and finally the railway towards Cheb . The northern border of the natural area to the Eger Basin lies entirely in the Czech Republic and was not the subject of the LfU. The southeastern border to the Naab-Wondreb-Senke with Hundsbach , Waldsassen , Kondrau (up to this point all districts of Waldsassen) and Pleußen follows the eastern timberline of the Münchenreuther Wald, whereby in the thinly wooded part west to southwest of Waldsassen the hamlet Netzstahl is still the Randberge natural area was slammed.

mountains

The following surveys of the natural area are worth mentioning (arranged according to height above sea level, a description of the location follows after the dash):

  • Sieben-Linden-Berg ( 643.1  m above sea  level ) - southwest of the Arzberger forest (southeast of Arzberg )
  • Kohlberg ( 633  m ) - southwestern edge of the Arzberger Forest (south of Arzberg; observation tower)
  • Glasberg ( 628  m ) - southern Münchenreuther Wald (northwest of Waldsassen )
  • Dietzenberg ( 626  m ) - in the center of the Münchenreuther Wald (clearing island around Münchenreuth , northwest of the village)
  • Lehenbühl ( 622  m ) - largely cleared southern part (north of Konnersreuth )
  • Gossenbühl ( 616  m ) - northern Münchenreuther Wald (between Münchenreuth and Pechtnersreuth )
  • Konnsberg ( 613  m ) - southern part (island-like forested, east of Konnersreuth; basalt dome)
  • Moosrangen ( 599  m ) - central mountain of the Arzberger Forest (north of the island-like cleared hamlet of Seedorf and south-east of Schirnding )
  • Rehberg ( 591  m ) - southern part (island-like forested, west-southwest of Konnersreuth; basalt dome)
  • Gulgberg ( 579  m ) - southernmost mountain in the natural area, immediately to the east of the Reichsforst (island-like forest , west of Pleußen ; basalt dome)
  • Gommelberg ( 575  m ) - southeastern Randberg (immediately north of Pleussen, north slope wooded; Gommelberg chapel and pond; basalt dome)
  • "Im Gereut" ( 561  m ) - south-eastern Randberg in the southern part, immediately north of the Reichsforst (eastern ridge in extension of the Steinwald ) then (southwest of Konnersreuth)

Waters

All the brooks of the Lausnitzer Randberge flow into the Eger river system .

In the south of the natural area, near the border, the Lausnitz flows east to the Wondreb , further north the Glasmühlbach and the Hundsbach , which runs almost entirely in the Czech Republic and to which the Mühlbach flows from Pechtnersreuth, do so .

The Feisnitz , which is relatively central for the natural area, flows in the opposite direction, to the west (or initially southwest), which only leaves the natural area at the main barrier of the Feisnitz reservoir and finally flows into the Röslau on the Selb-Wunsiedeler plateau .
