The 2016/17 season was the 16th season of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A , the top division in the Italian men's basketball club . It was the 95th championship in Italian men's basketball . The main round started on October 2, 2016 and ended on May 7, 2017 with the 30th and final matchday. The play-off final round for the championship lasted until June 20, 2017.

Olimpia Milano started the season as defending champion and cup winner .

Brescia Leonessa was promoted to the 2016/17 season . After the main round, Vanoli Cremona was relegated to the A2 series .

Italian champion was Reyer Venezia , who prevailed in the final series against Aquila Trento with 4-2 wins. For Venice it was the third championship win after 74 years.
