Leopold Erhard Rudolf von Puttkamer (born April 27, 1797 in Königsberg , † July 13, 1868 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Leopold von Puttkamer came from the behind Pomeranian noble family Puttkamer and was the youngest of nine sons of the War and Domain Council and landlords to Jeseritz , Buckow , Reddies and Lichtenberg near Konigsberg, Carl Gustav von Puttkamer (1751-1814) and his wife Agathe Hedwig, born of Ostrau (1763 / 64–1816) from Lublack.

Military career

Puttkamer joined the Prussian Artillery Brigade in Königsberg as a gunner on October 15, 1809 and was promoted to second lieutenant until the beginning of August 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation in 1813/15 he took part in the battles near Dennewitz , Großbeeren , Leipzig and Ligny . For his achievements at Ligny he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the war, Puttkamer was promoted to captain and company commander until July 1824 . He was transferred to the Guards Artillery Brigade in mid-February 1826 and from mid-May 1833 worked as an adjutant at the General Inspection of the Artillery . Left in this command, he was aggregated at the end of April 1836 major and on June 5, 1841 of the Guard Artillery Brigade . In this position he received the Grand Cross of the Guelph Order , the Belgian Order of Leopold , the Order of Saint Michael and the Military and Civil Service Order of Adolph von Nassau as well as the Order of the Iron Crown and the Order of the Crown, First Class. In addition, the Prussian king awarded him the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves. After Puttkamer had already submitted his departure several times , he was put up for disposal on November 19, 1863 with the character of General of the Infantry with a pension .

After his departure he moved to Potsdam and in 1866 during the German War had the opportunity to work as a legal knight of the Order of St. John in the war hospitals. Puttkamer died on July 13, 1868 after a serious illness.

On May 1, 1816, Puttkamer married Eustasie von Holtzendorff (1792–1853) in Berlin , the daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Karl Friedrich von Holtzendorff . After her death, he married the sister of his first wife Bertha (* 1805), court lady of Luise von Prussia, on March 15, 1854 in Berlin . The following children were born from the first marriage:
