Leopold von Stuckrad (General, 1780)

Karl Friedrich Leopold von Stuckrad (also: Stückrath , born May 29, 1780 in Königsberg ; † August 22, 1854 in Prökuls ) was a Prussian lieutenant general . He became master of Steinwalde (Friedland district) in 1806 and Gansenstein (Lötzen district) in 1809.

Life

The Stuckrads are a Hessian family. His father and his uncle Hermann Wilhelm († 1803) fought on the Prussian side in the Seven Years' War under the command of Duke Ferdinand von Braunschweig . In 1773 both changed into Prussian services. His parents were Franz Leonhard Wilhelm von Stuckrad (1740-1819) and his wife Charlotte Wilhelmine Sophie, née von Collas (1754-1828). His father was a Prussian major a. D. , most recently in the depot battalion of the "von Henckel" infantry regiment .

Military career

Stuckrad entered on April 10, 1795 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Larisch" of the Prussian army and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-December 1797 . On June 2, 1801 followed with patent of September 20, 1797 he was transferred to the 2nd East Prussian Fusilier Brigade until it's on November 26, 1803 farewell took.

In the run-up to the Fourth Coalition War , Stuckrad was re-employed on May 8, 1806 as Prime Lieutenant in the 1st East Prussian Reserve Battalion. In 1807 he still took part in the campaign in Prussia, but without becoming involved in combat operations. After the Peace of Tilsit he was put inactive on October 8, 1807 with half pay.

On November 10, 1812, Stuckrad was employed as a prime lieutenant in the gendarmerie and on April 21, 1813, he was promoted to staff captain as adjutant to the 2nd East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. There he rose to captain and company commander in early July 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the sieges of Küstrin and Magdeburg and received the Order of St. Vladimir IV class for Rodemacher .

On September 7, 1815 he was promoted to major, aggregated as such to the 1st Infantry Regiment at the end of June 1816 and assigned as battalion commander on March 30, 1817. He was awarded the Service Cross in 1825 . On March 30, 1830 he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion in the 3rd Landwehr Regiment. In this position, Stuckrad was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1832 with a patent from April 1, 1832 . On May 17, 1833 he was commander of the III. Battalion in the 1st Landwehr Regiment and rose to colonel on March 30, 1835 . On August 18, 1837 he became the commander of the fortress Pillau appointed and on the occasion of the religious festival in 1838 with the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. On April 7, 1842, he was promoted to major general. Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Stuckrad received on 13 March 1847 leave of the statutory pension .

To celebrate his golden wedding anniversary , he received 100 Friedrichsdor from the king as a grant so that all of his children could come to the celebration.

He died shortly after his wife on August 22, 1854.
