Until December 31, 2011, Les Thioleyres was a municipality in the Lavaux-Oron district of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland . On January 1, 2012, she merged with Oron .
geography
Les Thioleyres is 700 m above sea level. M. , four kilometers south-southwest of Oron-la-Ville and 15 kilometers east of the canton capital of Lausanne (as the crow flies). The scattered settlement community extends slightly higher on the south-western edge of the broad valley basin of the Haute-Broye, on the western slope of the Corbéron, in the eastern edge zone of the Vaud Central Plateau .
The area of the 1.9 km² former municipal area comprises a section of the Molasse Heights in the Alpine foothills west of the Broye . The eastern border runs along the winding course of the Corbéron . From here, the former municipality extends westward over the flat valley and the gently sloping slope of Les Thioleyres to the heights of the Montagne des Carboles , where at 711 m above sea level. M. the highest point of Les Thioleyres is reached. In the very south the area extends to the foot of Mont Chesau (northern part of Mont Pèlerin ). In 1997, 5% of the former municipal area was accounted for by settlements, 7% for forests and woodlands and 88% for agriculture.

population
With 213 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2010) Les Thioleyres is one of the small former municipalities of the canton of Vaud. 97.7% of the residents are French-speaking and 2.3% German-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Les Thioleyres was 157 in 1900. After that, a decrease to 116 inhabitants was recorded through constant emigration until 1980; since then the population has increased significantly again.
economy
Until the second half of the 20th century, Les Thioleyres was a predominantly agricultural village. Even today, have agriculture and livestock an important role in the employment structure of the population. Further jobs are available in local small businesses and in the service sector. In the last few decades the village has also developed into a residential community. Some workers are therefore commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

The former municipality is located off the major thoroughfares on a connecting road from Oron-la-Ville to Puidoux . Les Thioleyres has no connection to the public transport network.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1266 under the name à la Thiolere . In Les Thioleyres the brickworks of the Haut-Crêt Abbey was located , which is why the community got its name, because the patois expression for brick is thiole . The brick factory was in operation until 1860.
In the Middle Ages, the community belonged to the Haut-Crêt Abbey. After Bern had conquered the Vaud, Les Thioleyres became part of the Bernese bailiwick of Oron in 1557 . After the collapse of the Ancien Régime , the village belonged to the canton of Léman from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic , which then became part of the canton of Vaud when the mediation constitution came into force . In 1798 it was assigned to the Oron district.
