LiSA ( acronym for Love is Same All ), real name Risa Oribe ( Japanese 織 部 里 沙 Oribe Risa , born June 24, 1987 in Seki , Gifu Prefecture ) is a Japanese singer and songwriter .

Her songs have been used as opening credits for various anime , including Fate / Zero and Sword Art Online . Many of her single releases reached top ten positions in the Japanese charts and were awarded gold or platinum records in Japan.

In 2015 she made her dubbing debut when she voiced the character Madge Nelson in the Japanese version of the American animated film Minions .

life and career

LiSA was in on 24 June 1987 Seki in Gifu Prefecture , Japan born. She received piano lessons at the age of three, followed by dance and singing lessons , which she continued until after her time at middle school. When she was still in elementary school , she took part in a singing competition at Nippon Budokan . At this time, LiSA made the decision to want to become a singer. In middle school she formed a band that covered pieces by Avril Lavigne , Love Psychedelico and Ego-Wrappin ' , among others .

In 2005, when she was in her first year of high school, LiSA began her musical career as a singer with the cover band Chucky , which she founded herself. After her time at high school she decided against studying to be able to concentrate on her musical career with Chucky , but the band broke up in 2008 after it became increasingly difficult to play concerts. She moved to Tokyo to continue her singing career there.

In Tokyo, Oribe founded the band LiSA , an acronym for Love is Same All , with members of the indie band Parking Out , and from this time adopted their stage name LiSA. In 2010 she was one of two singers in the fictional band Girls Dead Monster in the anime series Angel Beats! . She released an album and three single releases as Girls Dead Monster on the Key Sounds label . The album Keep the Beats was released at the end of June 2010, landed at number six in the Japanese album charts , where it lasted for 42 weeks and has since been awarded a gold record . On August 28, 2010 LiSA played their first live concert at Animelo Summer Live .

LiSA made her debut as a solo singer on April 20, 2011 with the release of the EP Letters to U via Aniplex . With one exception - Believe in Myself wrote LiSA herself - the songs were composed by various dojin and major artists, while she wrote all the lyrics. LiSA gave her first concert outside of Japan as part of the Anime Festival Asia on November 12, 2011 in Singapore . Her first single as a solo artist is Oath Sign , which was released on November 23, 2011 and was used as the song in the opening credits of the anime Fate / Zero . This rose to number 5 in the Japanese single charts and has since been awarded gold.

On February 22nd, 2012, Lover "s" mile released their solo debut album, which reached number 7 in the national album charts and a little later in South Korea . In 2012, LiSA was a guest of honor at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles , California and gave their first concert in the United States on July 1st . Due to the success of their single Oath Sign , LiSA was selected to sing the opening credits for the anime Sword Art Online . The piece is called Crossing Field and was released on August 8, 2012 as their second single. This reached number five in Japan and has since been awarded platinum . The singles Best Day, Best Way and Träumerei also entered the domestic single charts. The latter can be heard in the opening credits of the anime series Day Break Illusion . The second full-fledged studio album Landspace was released in 2013 and, like its predecessor, made it into the album charts, where it just missed the top spot.

On January 3, 2014 LiSA played a sold out concert at Nippon Budokan . The fifth single, Rising Hope , which was used as the opening credits for the anime adaptation of the series of novels Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei , was released in early May and again entered the charts. She covered the songs Headphone Actor and Yūkei Yesterday from the Kagerō Project franchise for the sixth episode of the anime adaptation Mekakucity Actors . Shirushi , the seventh single, was used as the closing title for Sword Art Online II . This also contains the song No More Time Machine , which was used as the second credits song on Sword Art Online II. In January 2015 LiSA played again in the Nippon Budokan, which was sold out again. The third studio album, Launcher , was released on March 4, 2015 . Rally Go Round , the eighth single, was used as opening credits in the second season of the anime Nisekoi . In July 2015, LiSA made her dubbing debut when she voiced the character Madge Nelson in the Japanese version of Minions .

At the end of 2015, LiSA published the song ID , which was used as the theme song for the video game Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition . To celebrate her five years as a solo musician, the Letters to U EP was reissued on March 23, 2016 exclusively on vinyl records ; on April 20 of the same year the Lucky High-Five was published! EP. Her single Brave Freak Out became the first opening credits for the anime Qualidea Code . This also contains the song AxxxiS , which can also be heard on Qualidea Code. On February 15, 2017, LiSA published the piece Catch the Moment , which is used as the theme song for the anime film Sword Art Online - The Movie: Ordinal Scale . This was followed by a label change from Aniplex to Sacra Music , a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan . The fourth album Little Devil Parade was released on May 24, 2017. On June 24th and 25th, 2017 she played a two-day concert in the Saitama Super Arena . On August 2, 2017, the release of the single Datte Atashi no Hero followed , which was used as the second credits song of the second season of My Hero Academia . The single Ash was used as the second opening credits for the anime series Fate / Apocrypha and was released on CD in late November 2017. The song Thrill, Risk; Heartless is used in the video game Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet . On May 9th, 2018 LiSA released the two compilation albums LiSA Best -Day- and LiSA Best -Way-

Musical influences

LiSA describes her time with Chucky , as well as the artists Avril Lavigne , Oasis , Green Day , Paramore , Ke $ ha and Rihanna as musical influences. She wrote lyrics to some of her songs on the albums Landspace and Launcher , as well as for the single releases Bright Flight / L. Miranc , Shirushi and Rally Go Round , with the assistance of songwriter Shin Furuya on the latter. Dennis Amith from J! -ENT described LiSA as a young woman with style, a beautiful voice and the ability to adapt to a wide variety of music styles.
