history

Liebenau was probably created in the 14th century as part of the colonization activities of the Benedictine monastery Politz . It belonged to the Adersbach lordship and was parish in Merkelsdorf. Together with the one-shift Vorwerk, it was about three kilometers long.

After the abolition of patrimonial Liebenau formed from 1850 a municipality in the judicial district of Politz or in the later district of Braunau . It later became part of the Wekelsdorf judicial district . In 1869 the border was regulated towards the then Prussian Silesia. The quarrying of ashlar sandstone gained economic importance . At the end of the 19th century there were six sandstone quarries in operation in the area of the Liebenau cadastral community, later only three. The sandstone was artistically processed into tombstones and monuments and was used for millstones and grindstones .

In 1930 Liebenau had 376 inhabitants. On July 14, 1932, a storm caused great agricultural damage. In 1939 there were 351 inhabitants.

After the Munich Agreement in 1938, Liebenau, which was largely inhabited by Germans, was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Braunau district . In 1939 351 people lived in the community. In 1945 and 1946 the German residents were expelled . In 1949 Libná was incorporated into Zdoňov. After 1960 Libná was resettled and left to decay. Overgrown fragments of the ruins of houses and farms and a few buildings are still recognizable. On April 30, 1976 Libná was incorporated together with Zdoňov to Teplice nad Metují. In 2009 Libná received the status of a district.
