Liebenau , historically also Liebenow , is the name of an originally Saxon noble family , which later also gained a certain reputation in Prussia .

There is no kinship to the same older Silesian sex, nor to the family Hermann von Liebenau , nor to a place after Liebenow at Arnswalde to call end neumärkischem sex or to Bohemian family Liebentantz v. Liebenau .

history

Meissen and Saxony

The von Liebenau can be assigned to the native Meissen nobility and probably borrow their name from Burgliebenau near Merseburg . With Bartholomaeus de Lybennowe in 1231 and the brothers Heinrich , Richard and Bartholomaeus de Lybenowe , monks in the Neuzelle monastery , in 1279 as documentary witnesses, the family was first mentioned in a document.

From 1490 to 1694 Krummenhennersdorf was the oldest known fiefdom , in the middle of the 17th century Langenhennersdorf was added. There were other estates at Langenwolmsdorf (1780), Leissenau (1752), Ober-Allersdorf (1639), Schmiedeberg (1801) and Zehista (1671), as well as the Liebenau vineyard in Zitzschewig in 1699 .

The family's sons have distinguished themselves several times as officers in the Saxon army . At least until 1848 these are named in the master lists.

Brandenburg and Prussia
