City of Lindau is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography
Lindau in Vorflaming lies between the cities of Zerbst and Möckern . The northern Nuthe turns here, coming from the northwest, towards the south. Lindau Castle is located above this bend in the river . Lindau belongs to the Fläming Nature Park , which was declared in 2005 .
history
Settlement remains from the 9th and 10th centuries were found on the grounds of the outer bailey. The castle Lindau dipped in 1179 for the first time in a document as the seat of Evererus of Lindau on. In times of war it often served as a refuge for the residents of Lindau. The castle was expanded in the 15th century and the castle tower was renewed in 1863 during the Ascanic restoration by Duke Leopold Friedrich . The church in Lindau (late Romanesque style) is worth seeing.
Until December 31, 2009, the small town of Lindau was an independent municipality with the associated districts Kerchau, Lietzo, Neue Sorge, Quast and Vordamm. 1096 inhabitants lived on a community area of 36.64 km² (December 31, 2008). On January 1, 2010 the incorporation into Zerbst / Anhalt took place .
The former castle in the Quast district was owned by the knight Ulricus Quast in 1315 , who became the progenitor of the noble von Quast family , which is also mentioned in Garz Castle in 1419 and has since lived mainly in the Margraviate of Brandenburg .
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Kerchau, Lietzo and Quast were incorporated.
On July 1, 2014, the new municipal constitutional law of the state of Saxony-Anhalt came into force. In its §14 (2) the municipalities are given the opportunity to assign this designation to the districts that were towns before the incorporation. The city of Zerbst / Anhalt has made use of this regulation. Their main statutes came into force with their first amendment with effect from April 18, 2015. In §1 (2) the districts are listed with their official names. The locations are listed in §16 (1). The district has since been called the city of Lindau . It belongs to the village of Lindau .

The coat of arms was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on November 16, 1992 and registered in the Magdeburg State Archives under the coat of arms roll number 22/1992.

The city colors are green - white.
Lindau is a former town in Anhalt. Since most of the files of the Anhalt State Ministry have not survived, it could not be determined whether the coat of arms has already been documented. The literature at hand mentions that Lindau has had a silver lime tree in its coat of arms since 1856 and the city colors green and white since 1896.
The coat of arms was designed by the Heraldische Gesellschaft ”Schwarzer Löwe“ Leipzig and registered on April 30, 1989 in the Quedlinburg coat of arms under QWR II / 89023.

Lindau is on the road connection (L55) from Zerbst to Loburg . The station Lindau (Anh) was at the Berlin-Blankenheim Railway ; In the 1990s, this was expanded and electrified for speeds of up to 160 km / h. At times (during the construction of the high-speed line Hanover – Berlin ) even ICE trains (without stopping) ran here, but the connection via Lindau has not been used since December 2004. The next station is now in Zerbst, 10 km away on the Trebnitz – Leipzig railway line .
