Galatea fountain with four tritons | The granite figures probably come from the park of a country house on Monte Cimino near Viterbo in Italy. In 1910 they were bought for Park Sanssouci , but they were never installed there. In 1922, the city of Brandenburg bought the figures and set them up between the Grillendamm outdoor pool and the Seglerheim. It was supposed to be a well that was not built for cost reasons. The figures are popularly called "Widow Bollmann and her children" after a Brandenburg original. | |
