( Location ) Askanier tower The 15-meter-high Askanier tower made of field stones is located on the south bank of the Werbellinsee . Its construction goes back to a suggestion of the Joachimsthal native poet Friedrich Brunold, which was sponsored by Prince Carl of Prussia . The master builder Oskar Büschner from Eberswalde created this massive structure on the spot where the legendary Askanier castle Werbellin is said to have stood. The tower was inaugurated in 1879 and has been a listed building since 1974. It can be viewed by prior arrangement.
