List of rivers in the Niger river system
This is a list of the flowing waters in the Niger River System . After the Nile and the Congo, the Niger is the third longest river in Africa at 4,184 kilometers . It flows in a semicircle with a diameter of almost 2000 km through five states: from its source in the mountains of Guinea , it flows through Mali , southern Niger , along the border of Benin and finally through populous Nigeria , where it flows into the more than 200 km wide Niger Delta flows into the Gulf of Guinea .
The river supplies almost all of the 110 million people who live on its banks with water. Its catchment area covers 2.261 million square kilometers, including areas in another four to five states.
