List of International Masters (awarded in 1988)

The list of International Masters of the Year 1988 lists all chess players who received the title of International Masters in 1988 from the World Chess Federation FIDE . A total of 111 players were honored, including a woman, Judit Polgár . 45 of the 111 players later reached the grandmaster title.

Legend

The table contains the following information:

  • Name : gives the name of the player.
  • Country : The country for which the player was eligible to play in 1988.
  • Born : states the player's date of birth.
  • Died : states the player's death date.
  • GM : Indicates the year of award for players who were later promoted to grandmasters.
