List of localities in Hong Kong
The list of localities in Hong Kong provides an overview of the localities in Hong Kong . The development of the number of inhabitants is shown for cities of a certain size.
Hong Kong has a unitary administration in which cities are not provided as separate legal entities. The boundaries of Victoria City , Kowloon , New Kowloon, and the New Territories were established by law, but these areas have no legal status either. The division into districts follows mountain ranges, the coast or roads and does not take into account the urban size of the villages.
The names Victoria City and New Kowloon are no longer common. Kowloon now also includes the areas that were formerly known as New Kowloon. The following table shows the current districts associated with the historical city names.

Cities by population
The following table contains the population of the larger localities, the division into cities based on geographical criteria, which does not correspond to the official division. Includes the names in English and Chinese, the results of the census results of March 15, 1996, March 14, 2001, July 15, 2006 and June 30, 2011, and the area in which the city is located. The population figures come from citypopulation.de and depend on the interpretation of the city limits, so they are not necessarily comparable with other sources.
