The capital Kuala Lumpur, the seat of government Putrajaya with 41,070 inhabitants and Labuan with 73,664 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2005) each form their own federal territory and do not belong to any state. The population figures refer to the actual city without the suburbs.

The last official census took place in 2010.
