This list of the districts of Wiesbaden gives an overview of the 26 districts of the Hessian state capital Wiesbaden . These are the only city-internal geographical-organizational structure level, which differs from the two-stage structure in city districts and districts that is customary in other major German cities. The boundaries of local districts and municipalities are often, but not always, identical in Wiesbaden.
It distinguishes the "inner suburbs" which is the original urban area of the district further subdivide Wiesbaden, and the "Outer districts" of the incorporated cities and towns. From 1926 the incorporation of the surrounding communities began, starting with Biebrich, Schierstein and Sonnenberg. In 1928 most of the surrounding communities were incorporated, namely Bierstadt, Dotzheim, Erbenheim, Frauenstein, Georgenborn (incorporated in 1939 to Schlangenbad ), Hessloch, Igstadt, Kloppenheim and Rambach.
After the Second World War , the " AKK suburbs" Mainz-Amöneburg , Mainz-Kastel and Mainz-Kostheim were separated from Mainz by order of the French and American military administrations and handed over to Wiesbaden for "fiduciary management". The last incorporation took place in 1977 as part of the regional reform in Hesse , as a result of which the eastern communities Auringen, Breckenheim, Delkenheim, Medenbach, Naurod and Nordenstadt belonged to Wiesbaden from then on.
