Thörl Castle with gate and hunter tower ObjectID : 36661 |
Thörl 19 KG location : Thörl |
The building complex developed in several construction phases from a fortification or road block from the 14th century. Their remains have been preserved in the Jägerturm to this day. The core of the building consists of two two- to three-storey wings from the 15th century that are hooked together. The former street passage led through the barrel-vaulted passage hall, over whose round arch there is a fresco in the baroque style. Late Gothic fresco fragments can still be seen on the courtyard side of the gate tower, which is covered with a tent roof. The one in the opposite Jägerturm was provided with a neo-Gothic battlement in the 19th century. |

Reception building and goods storage room at Thörl station ObjectID : 29406 |
Palbersdorf 32 KG location : Palbersdorf |
Originally planned as a section of a projected rail connection from Mürz Valley to Mariazell , the narrow-gauge railway was opened in 1893. The railway brought the region economic upswing, primarily through freight transport, and the iron industry in particular benefited from the then modern and efficient means of transport. The route was never very important for passenger traffic, as the larger towns such as Aflenz or Turnau are far away from the route and the connection to the Mariazellerbahn was never realized. |
